The Importance of SVG Files

Ever wonder why SVGs are so important to Vecteezy?  It’s a little thing we call the Vecteezy Editor, an online editing software featured on our homepage. Our Editor allows users without access to professional software to edit our vectors. Here are 3 ways to make sure your files are equipped with proper SVGs.

Live Text is a Must

Not only do we strive to provide beautiful graphics to our users, but we also want our files to be usable. The ability to edit text on the fly can be a game-changer, especially for someone with little to no experience in vector-editing software.

Get Approved with these Simple Rules

• Use Google Fonts. Google Fonts are free, accessible to everyone, and guaranteed to work. When designing, only use fonts found at fonts.google.com.
• Never outline text. It’s always easier for the user to remove your text and replace it with their own, so keep it editable.
• Double-check before submitting. You can utilize our Editor to double-check your work, so your file passes for approval. Learn how in this video.
  

No Special effects

SVG is a vector graphic format—based on XML and used to display graphics on the web and other environments. Special effects like blend modes and overlays do not render properly in SVGs and therefore result in a corrupt, unusable file.

Try this Tip:

• Use gradients to achieve the same look. Really want that perfect blend mode look? Use gradients that are fully renderable in SVGs to achieve the same look!

No Warped Text

Warped text can add visual interest to a graphic, but unfortunately, once that text is formed to match a shape, it cannot be edited easily in SVGs. We ask that our contributors do not use text effects such as Arched, Arc, Bulge, Flag, etc.
