We’ve been taking steps to understand what makes a resource more attractive and downloadable to a customer.
Here are our 3 considerations for making sure your resources stand out:
Add an Accurate Title to Your Resource
Customers are searching for content that meets their visual and design needs. The Title of a resource should always be descriptive, factual, succinct, relevant, and professional. Your resources are more likely to be discovered via organic search if the Title is accurate and descriptive. While it's true that the terms within a Title are not searchable on Vecteezy.com, it's still important to have a relevant Title that accurately describes the resource.
Good Title creation means:
- Capitalize the first letter of each word, excluding small words like “of” and “the.” (Ex. “My File for Vecteezy”)
- Refrain from punctuation (. , ! ? ;) in your title. While periods, commas, dashes, spaces, and apostrophes are permitted, we ask that contributors not overdo it with punctuation.
- Do not use subjective words like brilliant, amazing, or best. These words describe your opinion rather than what the resource is all about.
- Keep Titles to less than 100 characters. Lengthy titles likely over-compensate and could be inaccurate.
Use Keywords (also known as tags or terms) Wisely
Keywords are vital to ensuring your resources are discoverable by customers. Titles and Descriptions are not searchable on vecteezy.com so it is extremely important to include all relevant information about a resource in the Keywords. Choose Keywords wisely, so your resources show up in various searches across a broad range of themes. Try not to use the same Keywords for all your resources unless the resources are similar in nature. List the most relevant keywords first, and make sure all keywords are relevant to your resource so that customers can easily find what they are looking for.

Good Keywording Practices
- Be sure to Keyword in English. Currently our system treats all Keywords as English. Keywords should only be submitted in English at this time although, we are considering ways to allow contributors to eventually keyword in their native language so as to index more effectively in a localized region.
- Use 20-30 precise Keywords. Using irrelevant Keywords means your resource will surface in search results when it shouldn't, resulting in low downloads and frustrated customers.
- List the keywords that are most relevant to your resource first. The first 5 keywords are the most important and should be highly relevant to the resource
- Think like the customer. Identify subjects or themes in your resources and consider possible end uses of the resource. What would users be searching for to find your resource?
- Keywords must be separated by a comma and contain no misspellings. Misspellings and typos could impede customers during searches.
- Use phrases where needed. For instance, if your resource is a vector illustration of a football player, you should use a 2-word Keyword such as “football player.”
- Consider geographical location Keywords. Location Keywords are highly searched on vecteezy.com - customers often look for photo and video content taken in a specific location. Adding Keywords for City, State/Province and Country, as well as named landmarks will boost the discoverability of your resources.
- Ethnicity. Ethnicity keywords must be supported by the Model Release. If there is no model release or the model has not added an ethnicity, an ethnicity keyword should not be added.
- Brand Names. Brand Names may not be applied as Keywords, even if they describe the resource well. Add generic terms instead (e.g., Smart Phone, Digital Tablet, Compact Car).
- Reference your Title. If you write a good Title to begin with, many of your top Keywords could be sourced from the Title.

Write Informative Descriptions
Descriptions are not mandatory although for Editorial content, we highly recommend submitting a Description in addition to a Title and Keywords. Your Description should accurately describe your resource and any unique aspects of the file. Imagine you’re the user who will be downloading the file; what qualities would you be looking for in the Description? For Editorial usage, customers will often want to know the location of the resource - City, State, Country. They may also want to know the date or time of year when the resource was created. Make sure your Description is readable and written in complete sentences with correct punctuation.
