By default, your referral link can tell you how many clicks and referrals it has generated and how much you’ve earned from those referrals. SubIDs are an optional, advanced way to help you analyze the performance of your different referral strategies and can be used to track clicks, referrals, and referral earnings from different websites, buttons, CTA’s, posts, videos, or almost any other variable.
Once you understand the format of referral links, it’s simple to create and use SubIDs.
Here’s a breakdown of the Vecteezy Contributor Program’s Referral Link format for the referral link: https://www.vecteezy.com/contributors/ref=123456&sub_id=source. First, all referral links will start with “https://www.vecteezy.com/contributors/”; this is the page that, when clicked, your referral link is directed towards. Next is “ref=123456”, where “ref=” indicates that the URL is a referral link and “123456” is a unique variable that identifies the referrer. The last part of the referral link “&sub_id=78910” is the optional SubID. “&sub_id=” indicates that the referral link contains a SubID and “78910” is the SubID variable that you identify.
To create your first Referral link with a SubID,
- Log in to the content manager.
- Click on Referrals.
- Click on “Copy” next to your referral link.
- Paste your referral link where you would like to share it (it should look similar to “https://www.vecteezy.com/contributors/ref=123456”, where “123456” is replaced with your unique referral code.)
- Add “&sub_id=” and a variable, such as “Facebook”, to the end of the URL you just pasted.
Your finished URL will look similar to “https://www.vecteezy.com/contributors/ref=123456&sub_id=Facebook” with “123456” being your unique referral code, and “Facebook” a variable of your choice.
Tips:
- Only use letters, numbers, or characters acceptable in a URL for your variable. Unacceptable characters can cause a broken link.
- Ensure the variable you choose is memorable - it will appear under the “SubID” column in the “Advanced SubID Tracking” section on the “Referrals” page in the Content manager
- SubID’s can not be deleted at this time
