In addition to embedding metadata into your files and updating metadata on the Add Data page, a CSV file can also be used to add metadata to your files. Follow this two-step process to prepare and upload a CSV file to quickly add metadata to your Vecteezy uploads!
Step 1: Prepare your CSV file
To prepare a CSV for upload, there are three options to get started. If you already have your CSV prepared, skip to step 2.
- Option 1: Download a CSV from Add Data (the best option for updating metadata using a CSV after files are uploaded to Vecteezy)
- Option 2: Download the example CSV file (the best for getting started quickly when updating metadata via FTP)
- Option 3: Create a CSV file from scratch following our guidelines (best for experienced contributors uploading metadata via FTP)
Option 1: Download a CSV file from Add Data

Downloading a CSV file from Add Data is the best option for adding metadata using a CSV after files are uploaded to Vecteezy, expedites the process by pre-populating filenames and metadata already present in your files, and ensures high accuracy during upload. To get started with a CSV downloaded from Add Data:
- Log in to your contributor account.
- Go to the Add Data page
- Click on "CSV"
- Select "Download CSV"
- You will be emailed a CSV file. Please allow a few minutes for email delivery especially if you have a lot of files.
- Download the CSV file from your email.
- Open it using your favorite spreadsheet program, like Google Sheets, Excel, or Numbers. Filenames and current metadata will be pre-populated.
- Modify and add information under the headers
Title

,Keywords
, andLicense
, as desired. - Save your file as a .csv
- Continue to Step 2: Upload your CSV file.

Downloading the example CSV file is the best option for adding metadata when files are uploaded, by using FTP. To create a CSV using the example file:
- Download the example file attached to the bottom of this article
- Open it using your favorite spreadsheet program, like Google Sheets, Excel, or Numbers.
- Add your filenames to each row, under the first column named
Filename
. These must match exactly for your file to process efficiently. - Next, add your desired
Title
,Keywords
,Description
, andLicense
in each row, corresponding to the correct filename. - Save your file as a .csv
Option 3: Create A CSV From Scratch

Creating a CSV from scratch is a secondary option for contributors familiar with CSV uploading. To Create a CSV from scratch:
- Using your favorite spreadsheet program, like Google Sheets, Excel, or Numbers, open a blank spreadsheet
- In the first row, add the column names

,Keywords
, andLicense
to the first four columns.Filename

are optional. - Add your filenames to each row, under the first column named

Step 2: Upload your CSV file
You can upload a CSV with your source file(s) using FTP upload or after you upload your source file(s) from the Add Data page.
To upload a CSV with your source file(s) via FTP:
- Go to https://contributors.vecteezy.com/portfolio/upload
- Click on the FTP upload link
- Upload our files and CSV at the same time by following our FTP Upload Process

To upload a CSV after you upload your source file(s) via Add Data:
- Go to https://contributors.vecteezy.com/portfolio/add_data
- Click on "CSV"
- Select "Upload CSV"
- Select or drag and drop your CSV file
- Wait for your file to upload
- If your file does not have the required column names or is not in the correct format, you will receive an error. Please ensure your file is prepared correctly before re-trying the upload.
- Click "Done"
- Your metadata may take a few moments to process. You will see a message at the top of the screen when the processing is complete.
- After your metadata is processed, refresh to see your updated metadata on the Add Data page
